Ask anyone, NADC's annual recital is a spectacular show!

An exciting theme, colorful backdrops, creative props, fabulous dancing, and the world's best emcee, Mike Rickles, make the annual recital a "don't miss" event!

Students will learn correct theater etiquette, stage directions, backstage technical procedures, and of course improve their stage presence and performance skills.
The director and staff of NADC believe that performance is an important part of dance education.  Each year an exceptional concert is planned for the students.
Thirteen months is required for the planning and production for this special event.  Each November the excitement mounts as the "story" idea or theme is announced and the costume display goes up on the lobby walls!

While all teachers, parents and students know that class work and technique are the most important part of studying dance; none can deny the fun and anticipation of participating in a major production for an enthusiastic audience!

Annual Recital - Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Von Braun Center Concert Hall at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

v   Order of the Show - Find an order of the show, Here

v   Dressing Room Info - Only one Mother/Female per Dancer allowed in dressing room. NO MEN ALLOWED IN DRESSING ROOM.

Download a map of the VBC Dressing Rooms, Here.

v   Recital DVDs - No personal video is permitted, but you can order your own DVD. Download the DVD order form, Here.

v   Recital Seating - There will be no saving seats at Recital. Official Uniformed Ushers will be stationed in each portal.

  • “How do I as a parent ensure that I will have a seat because I need to be backstage before the show to assist my young dancer?”---at dress rehearsal we will pass out official NADC placards that can be placed on a seat in the audience to reserve your one seat—one per family –(families with Preschool 1, Preschool 2 and Combo dancers will receive one placard for that dancer).  --- in other words if your family consists of  a husband, mother, brother and a dancer…the husband and brother need to sit in the audience and put Mom’s placard in the seat next to them so she can be backstage to assist the dancer.

  • “But I like to invite my family and friends to see the show.”---Yes…please do!  We too want to show the world what our dancers have learned.  You just simply need to let your friends and family know that you cannot save them a seat; they might want to get there early to get their own seat!

Thank you for your cooperation with our seating policies.  We really have no choice and the only alternative would be to go to tickets instead of general admission.

v   Teacher Flowers - NADC asks each family to donate $3.00 per family to purchase flowers for the Teachers. The flowers will be presented to each Teacher at the conclusion of the recital. Thank you!!!

v   Recital "No-No's" - These are not NADC rules—these are standard theater rules and guidelines. Along with excellent dance training, we want to give our students an understanding of the theater. They should be able to step right into any dance, theater or drama program at any college or university when they graduate from NADC!

      1. No panties under costumes
2. No nail polish (fingers nor toes)
3. No jewelry of any kind. If you have just
had your ears pierced and cannot take
them out—you must put a flesh colored
band-aid over the earring.
4. No chewing gum!
5. No elastics or strings hanging out from
ballet shoes!
6. No dancer will be allowed on stage unless
their hat/ headpiece has been secured
with elastic. It is also a good idea to use a
hatpin in addition to the elastic.
7. No costumes in the audience— at
any time. You must put on street
clothes to watch from the audience.
8. No tap shoe ribbons—you must have
elastic to close the shoes.
9. No flash photography taken from the
audience—it is dangerous to our dancers.
10. No bangs and No “wispies”— hair
must be slick and “set” with a strong gel.
11. No calling out from the audience—
(“Way to Go Ramona”, “Shake it
Suzie”—the recital police (Mrs. Kaye)
will hunt you down and ask you to leave
the theater!)
12. No leaving after your child performs!
Recital only happens once a year and this
is the most perfect chance for your dancer
to be exposed to different styles of dance,
see the older dancers perform, be
challenged and stimulated as an audience
member, to hear all of the narration and
gain a better understanding of the recital
theme…
13. No recording of any kind. You may
purchase a DVD from H2H Video. Please
understand why the VBC does not allow
you to video tape—wires and cameras
interfere with the audience members close
to you and it is distracting to the dancers
while they perform.
14. No “holding” of the show if you are
late! The show will go on so be prompt!
15. No eyeglasses on stage!
